Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Contue team (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, stores and protects your personal information when you use the Contue Mac app, the Contue iPhone app, Contue Cloud and the getcontue.com website (together, the “Service”).

An “issue” is a work item you create and manage in Contue, including its body, history and attached images. An “agent” is an AI coding tool you connect to Contue, such as Claude, Codex or Cursor.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: creating an account is optional, and you can use the Mac app's local features without one. If you choose to create an account, we store the email address you provide.
  • Device and connection information: the devices signed in to your account and the agents and AI tools you authorize, so that you can view and manage them in account settings.
  • Your content: the issues you choose to sync, only after you turn on Contue Cloud. See section 2.
  • Technical logs: information needed to operate the Service, such as IP address and request time.
  • Usage statistics: a randomly generated installation identifier, the app version and the operating system version sent by the Mac app. See section 5.

2. Contue Cloud and your content

Creating an account and turning on Contue Cloud are separate steps:

  • Creating an account or signing in: we store only your email address, your signed-in devices and your connected AI tools. No issues are uploaded.
  • Turning on Contue Cloud: you must turn it on separately in the app. Until you do, your issues are stored only on your Mac and are not sent to us. The app's settings show the current status.

Once you turn it on, the issues you select are uploaded to Contue Cloud and stored on our servers in order to provide:

  • read and update access for agents running in the cloud;
  • syncing across devices, backup and recovery;
  • viewing and following issues in the iPhone app.

You control what is synced, including whether images, archived issues or issues in the trash are included. You can delete synced cloud data at any time, or turn off Contue Cloud on any device.

3. How we use information

  • To sign you in and secure your account, including notification emails when a new device signs in or a new AI tool is connected;
  • To store and back up the issues you sync to Contue Cloud;
  • To process orders and payments once paid plans are available;
  • To respond to your enquiries and resolve account issues;
  • To operate the Service and protect it against abuse and security threats.

4. Our commitments

  • We do not use your issues to train AI models.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use your personal information or issue content for targeted advertising or cross-site tracking.
  • Issues synced to Contue Cloud are used only to provide Contue's features to you.

5. Usage statistics

The Mac app sends a randomly generated installation identifier, the app version and the operating system version, which we use to count active installations. This information does not include your account, email address or issue content. You can turn it off in the app's settings.

6. AI features and third-party services

AI summaries: the text of an issue is sent to an AI model provider only when you request a summary of that issue. If you have configured your own API endpoint, it is sent to the provider you specified. The provider processes it under its own terms.

Agents you connect: agents such as Claude, Codex and Cursor are operated by their respective providers, and their handling of data is governed by those providers' privacy policies.

7. Cookies

This website currently uses only cookies that are strictly necessary for its basic functions. It does not use advertising or analytics cookies.

  • contue_site: keeps you signed in to the account page. Set only after you sign in; expires after 30 days.
  • contue_lang: stores your language preference; expires after one year.

8. Service providers

We engage the following providers to help deliver the Service:

  • Alibaba Cloud: cloud servers and infrastructure;
  • Cloudflare: DNS, HTTPS, security protection and backup storage;
  • Supabase and Resend: sign-in codes and account emails;
  • AI model providers: only for AI summaries you request;
  • Creem: reseller for paid plans, handling orders and payments under its own privacy policy. We do not collect or store your full payment card details;
  • Apple: distribution of the iPhone app.

9. Where data is stored

  • Contue Cloud is hosted on servers in Alibaba Cloud's South Korea region.
  • Backups are encrypted before they leave the server and are stored on Cloudflare R2. The decryption keys are not stored on Contue servers.
  • If the storage location changes, we will update this policy and notify you by email in advance.

10. Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Data in Contue Cloud is encrypted at rest, with a separate encryption key for each account. Sign-in codes expire. You can manage signed-in devices and connected AI tools in account settings and revoke their access at any time.

11. Retention and deletion

  • Account information and cloud data: retained while your account exists.
  • After you delete cloud data or request account deletion, we delete the relevant data within 30 days. Backups are automatically purged within about four weeks thereafter.
  • Technical logs: generally retained for no more than 30 days.

12. Your rights

You may request access to, export, correction or deletion of your personal information at any time. Send your request from your account email address to [email protected], and we will respond within 3 business days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law, including the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

13. Children

The Service is designed for professional use and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that an account is being used by a child, we will delete it.

14. Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. If a change affects the purposes for which personal information is used, we will notify you by email before it takes effect.
